Description
This talk will discuss my short academic journey toward non-perturbative understanding of strongly coupled dynamics of (1+1)-dimensional gauge theories. I will first explain why they are not just interesting but important. Then I will introduce two methods I have heavily relied on: supersymmetry and lattice computation. On SUSY side, I will briefly sketch the D-brane probe theories over (toric) Calabi-Yau 4-folds and their classification program. On numerical frontier, I will sketch a few issues involved in the lattice regularization of field theory Lagrangian and how those can be resolved in terms of discrete symmetries.
