Cosmic Illuminating Gift: A One-Way Information Box for Extraterrestrial Intelligences

Description

What is the most scientifically valuable message humanity could send to an unknown civilization that we will almost certainly never hear back from? In this talk, I introduce the concept of the Cosmic Illuminating Gift: a one-way transmission of fundamental astronomical observations intended not as a greeting, but as a lasting scientific contribution to distant intelligences. Unlike traditional Messaging to Extraterrestrial Intelligence (METI), the Cosmic Illuminating Gift is motivated by a simple scientific observation: observers elsewhere in space and time have access to different observational information about the same Universe. By transmitting carefully selected empirical data, rather than our interpretations or cosmological models, we may provide information that is otherwise inaccessible to them. I will discuss the motivation behind the idea, possible strategies for content selection and transmission, and the broader scientific and philosophical implications of a project whose value lies not in receiving a response, but in the act of contributing to knowledge across cosmic distances.
