Description

The main reference for this talk is 2203.10100. The claim is that there can be gravitationally bound solitons which are fully quantum coherent
for dark photon dark matter (DPDM) with mass larger than 10^{-5} eV (smaller than 10^8 GeV) as long as the mass is much smaller than the inflation scale.


The density of a 'dark photon star' ('Proca star' or 'soliton') is typically 10^6 times larger than the local background dark matter density
and the mass is 10^{-16} M_{sol} (10^{-5} eV/m)^{3/2} for DPDM mass m.
It is surrounded by a fuzzy dark matter halo. Lower density compact halos with a mass 10^5 larger than the soliton form at much larger scales.
At least the soliton survives without tidal disruption.


I'll discuss possible (transient) signatures in direct detection if time is allowed.
