We investigate supernova cooling bounds on an MeV-scale dark Z boson with mass mixing. For a dark Z much lighter than the Standard Model Z boson, the kinetic mixing contribution to its coupling with the neutral current is strongly suppressed, while the mass mixing contribution remains sizable.
