In theories of partial compositeness, the Higgs boson arises as a composite pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson and the heavy fermion masses are generated by a mixing with heavy fermionic "partners". We discuss attempts at constructing four dimensional gauge theories implementing such mechanisms and their experimental signatures.
