The axion-photon coupling depends on the specific axion model, but also receives a sizable model-independent contribution from QCD. In the paper, 2603.29153, the authors directly perform the first non-perturbative determination of the QCD contribution to the axion-photon coupling using continuum extrapolated lattice simulations.
In this talk, I will discuss how they determine the coupling, compare their results to the chiral perturbation theory with some inputs from lattice QCD results, and present an update of the axion parameter landscape with experimental constraints.
