Travel to Busan

Busan can be reached by different types of transport. Here we give a short overview of the available options.

By plane

The main airport serving Busan is Gimhae International Airport (PUS), located to the west of the city. Busan can be easily reached by plane via direct international connections as well as domestic flights.

There are frequent domestic flights from/to Seoul (Gimpo Airport), with a flight time of about 1 hour. Gimhae Airport also offers international connections to major Asian hubs and cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, and others.

A full airport timetable with all connections can be found on the official airport webpage.

The airport is well connected to the city center and to the conference venue by public transport.

To reach the city from the airport, you can take:

Taxi: Approximately 25,000–40,000 KRW to central Busan (depending on traffic and destination).

Public transportation:

Light Rail Transit (LRT): Gimhae LRT connects the airport to Sasang Station, where you can transfer to Busan Metro Line 2.

Bus: Several city buses connect the airport to different parts of Busan.
Tickets can be paid using a transportation card (T-money or Cashbee) or cash.

By train

Busan is the southern terminus of Korea’s high-speed rail network.

Busan Station is located near the city center and serves KTX high-speed trains as well as conventional rail services.

KTX trains connect Busan directly with Seoul in approximately 2.5–3 hours, with frequent departures throughout the day.

There are also direct train connections to many other cities in South Korea.

Busan Station is well connected to all parts of the city by subway and bus.

You can purchase tickets for the KTX high-speed trains online.

By car

Busan is connected to the national expressway network. Major highways link the city to Seoul, Daegu, Gyeongju, Ulsan, and other regions of the country.
Please note that traffic within Busan can be heavy, especially during peak hours, and parking availability may be limited near the city center.
