IBS Campus
Welcome to the IBS Center for Theoretical Physics of the Universe. Here we provide useful and practical information.
The below is the campus map.
All the buildings including A1, A2 and A3 are connected by an indoor way from the building of reception, A1.
The program will take place in the IBS buildings, A1 and A2: in the seminar room on the 2nd floor of A2 during 10-14 October and 20-21 October , and in the seminar room on the 3rd floor of A1 during 15-18 October.
We will prepare tea and coffee in the seminar room during the workshop.
The CTPU is located on the 5th floor of A2. We have a lounge there, where you can have discussion and relax. A coffee machine is available in the lounge. There is a cafeteria in the building A3.
Entering the building
The building is blocked by high security. To enter the building you need an allowance at the reception desk, which is located right after the main door of the building A1.
At the reception desk we will provide you a temporary card key, with which you can pass several doors to reach the seminar rooms in A1 and A2. To get a temporary card key, you need to submit your passport or ID card to the reception desk.
Useful Information
Weather and Climate
Korea has four distinct seasons, with a humid summer season in the middle of the year, and a cold winter season from November to March. The temperatures during summer can rise to 36℃ during the day, and go as low as -15℃ in winter.
Electricity
In Korea, only 220V is supported, and two-pin plugs are standard on most electrical equipment. The outlet is the same type used in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, and many other countries. Please contact us if you need adapters.
Money change
You can change money at the airport, or at the banks near the conference hotel, Good-Morning Residence Hue Hotel (see the map below). The office hours of the bank are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Mon - Fri.

Directions from the Airport to the conference hotel, “Good Morning Residence Hue Hotel”:
There are several ways to get to the conference hotel.
1. By express bus
1-1. From Incheon Airport to Daejeon
Please exit the arrivals hall through the gate 10, and then cross the road and turn left to find the ticket booth 9D.
Take a bus for the government complex in Daejeon. It takes about 2:30 hours. At the booth 9D, you can buy a bus ticket to Daejeon showing the following message.
Please check if you are taking the correct bus by showing the message.
1-2. From the bus stop (the government complex) to the hotel
You can take a taxi. Please tell the taxi driver, “Could you take me to Good-Morning Residence Hotel Hue?” and give the hotel telephone number, 042-489-4000. Or you can show the following message.
You can also walk to the hotel. The distance is about 800m. The map below shows the direction.
2. By train
2-1. From Incheon Airport to Seoul station
By the Airport Railroad Express (AREX): Please take an AREX train to arrive at Seoul Station. It's the terminal of airport trains. There are two types of train: express (43 minutes, about 8 USD), and all-stop train (56 minutes, about 4 USD).
2-2. From Seoul station to Daejeon station
By train: There are three types of trains in operation, KTX, Saemaeul, and Mugunghwa. We recommend the express train, KTX, by which you can travel from Seoul to Daejeon in about one hour.
2-3. From Daejeon station to the hotel
By tax: You can reach the hotel by taxi (about 10 USD ). Please see the instruction given in section 1-2.
By subway: Another option is subway. You can go on with subway (direction Banseok) from Daejeon station to City Hall. Taking Gate 3 at the City-Hall station, you can walk to the hotel (about 5 minutes).
From the City-Hall station to the hotel: about 500m.
How to get to CTPU
From the conference hotel to CTPU
We will arrange a shuttle between the conference hotel and CTPU. The details will be available at the hotel front desk.
You can also take a taxi or bus to get to CTPU.
By bus: One can get to CTPU by bus, which is however a bit complicated and it takes a long time. The information about how to use public transportation in Daejeon is available in the CTPU website: http://ctpu.ibs.re.kr
By taxi: Taxi drivers do not know well about CTPU yet because it is a quite new institute. We share the building with the telecom company, KT, which is well known to people.
Please tell the taxi driver, “Could you please take me to the 2nd institute of KT in Jeonmin-dong?”, and show the following message. You can reach CTPU by taxi in about 25 minutes, and it costs about 10 USD.
The below shows the direction from the hotel to CTPU (about 9Km away).
Returning to the conference hotel
We will arrange a shuttle from CTPU to the hotel.
If you take a taxi, please show the translation card given in section 1-2.
For those arriving at Gimpo International Airport
You can get to the conference hotel as follows.
A. By Intercity bus
A-1. From Gimpo International Airport to Daejeon
You can take a bus to Daejeon at Bus stop 2 (see the map below). You can pay by cash on the bus, about 15 USD. Please get off the bus stop, the government complex in Daejeon. It takes about 3 hours.
Time table: 07:30, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, 17:00, 18:50, 20:30
You can show the following message to the bus driver to check if you are taking the correct bus.
A-2. From the bus stop (the government complex) to the hotel
By taxi: Please see the instruction given in section 1-2.
B. By train
B-1. From Gimpo Airport to Seoul station
By the Airport Railroad Express (AREX): You can reach Seoul staion by AREX.
B-2. From Seoul station to Daejeon station
By train: Please take the express train, KTX, by which you can travel from Seoul to Daejeon in about one hour.
B-3. From Daejeon station to the hotel
