Description

The RENE (Reactor Experiment for Neutrinos and Exotics) experiment aims to investigate sterile neutrino oscillation for Δm_41^2 ~ 2 eV^2 region.
The RENE prototype detector will be located in the tendon gallery of the Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant.
The VETO detector will cover the outermost part of the RENE prototype detector to reject background events, mainly coming from cosmic muons. The VETO detector consist of plastic scintillators with their thickness of 3 cm and 5 cm coupled with Hamamatsu 2-inch PMTs (H7195) for effective cosmic muon detection.
In this poster, we will present the current status for the VETO detector of the RENE experiment.
